In 1985, philosopher and biologist Donna Haraway penned her breakthrough essay »A Cyborg Manifesto« invoking a new entity, a hybrid of machine and organism: the cyborg. Thus, breaking binary modes of understanding the world, reinterpreting »science« versus »fiction«, and bridging the age-old divide of nature versus technology. Filmmaker Fabrizio Terranova had the rare opportunity to spend a few weeks at Haraway’s private home in Southern California and explore her life, influences and ideas. The result is a playfully eccentric and intelligent film portrait of a major contemporary thinker.
