Nur noch wenige Wochen bis zum Start von Kaleidoskop 2023! 💫 Während die Vorfreude wächst und wächst, blicken wir auf ein außergewöhnliches Festivalfinale 2022 zurück.
Die Wien-Premiere von LINGUI, die eigentlich als Eröffnung von Kaleidoskop 2022 am Karlsplatz geplant war, wurde von einer Sturmwarnung verhindert. Im Rahmen einer winterlichen Kinomatinée im @filmcasino wurde sie nachgefeiert – und so gewissermaßen zum Festivalfinale. 😅
Von Herzen Dank allen Menschen, die diese wundervolle Veranstaltung möglich gemacht haben, und den zahlreichen Besucher_innen, die dem Film ihre Aufmerksamkeit und ihr Herz geschenkt haben! Auch wenn wir uns eine Vorstellung unter Sternen gewünscht hätten: Es war wunderschön, so viele Menschen in einem Kino zu sehen und Raum für Gespräche zu haben. ❤️🔥

Only a few weeks left until the start of Kaleidoskop 2023! 💫 As our anticipation keeps constantly growing, we look back on an extraordinary festival finale 2022.
The Vienna premiere of LINGUI, which had been planned as the opening of Kaleidoskop 2022 at Karlsplatz, was prevented by a storm warning. It was re-celebrated as a wintry cinema matinée at @filmcasino – making it the festival finale, so to speak. 😅
A heartfelt thank you to all the people who made this wonderful event possible and the numerous visitors who gave the film their attention and heart! Even if we would have wished for a screening under stars: It was wonderful to see so many people in one cinema and to have space for conversations. ❤️🔥

Wunderbare Neuigkeiten: Aufgrund des großen Interesses an der Kaleidoskop-Premiere von LINGUI im Filmcasino gibt es diesen Sonntag einen Zusatztermin im @filmhaus.kino. 💫
Mahamat-Saleh Harouns neuester Spielfilm ist eine kraftvolle Erzählung von Solidarität und Kinship unter Frauen und ein vehementes Plädoyer für Frauenrechte. Am Rande der Stadt N’Djamena im Tschad lebt Amina allein mit ihrer 15-jährigen Tochter Maria. Als diese schwanger wird, bricht ihre ohnehin schon fragile Welt zusammen. Amina setzt alles daran, ihre Tochter dabei zu unterstützen, den bereits ihr selbst widerfahrenen Zyklus sexualisierter Gewalt zu durchbrechen und an den strukturellen Mechanismen patriarchaler Vorherrschaft zu rütteln.

Mahamat-Saleh Haroun`s latest feature film is a powerful narration of solidarity and kinship among women and a vehement plea for women`s rights. On the outskirts of N`Djamena in Chad, Amina lives alone with her 15-year-old daughter Maria. Her already fragile world collapses the day she discovers that her daughter is pregnant. Amina does everything in her power to help her daughter escape the cycle of sexualised violence she has been a victim of herself and to challenge the structural mechanisms of patriarchal domination.
