A sheer endless summer of friendship, each day spent together, youthfully exploring dreams, bodies, and spaces. From a sweltering carefree summer to an unforgiving winter, Swedish filmmaker Anna Eborn intimately follows six teenagers as they roam through urban spaces and into nature. Light-flooded sequences shot on 16mm film espouse the free spirit of its protagonists, not withholding the often struggling realities of their families and community. Set in a small town in Transnistria, a breakaway region between Moldova and Ukraine, TRANSNISTRA is a dreamy documentary of adolescent love and friendship in a complex and often contradictory world.
