Christiana Perschon invites five female artists into her studio: Renate Bertlmann, Linda Christanell, Lore Heuermann, Karin Mack und Margot Pilz. Starting their careers in the 1960s and 70s, the women recall their artistic beginnings in spaces dominated by patriarchal structures and entrenched sexism. The intergenerational dialogue between filmmaker and artists carefully unpacks the relation between artistic practice and feminist awakening. An altogether inspiring and beautifully minimalist film honoring its protagonists’ journeys and contemporary legacies.
