»Your hair is so beautiful, can I touch it?« White zombie women armed with selfie-sticks run havoc in a black beauty salon in Brooklyn. The surreal horror comedy imagined by filmmaker Mariama Diallo uses a dystopian sci-fi imagery to examine a much more sinister reality: The destructive cultural appropriation of black culture and gentrification of black spaces in contemporary America. Balancing between horror and humor, HAIR WOLF provides satirical sharpness with eery nocturnal aesthetics, both captivating and terrifying.
