A regular family dinner at a wealthy home in Casablanca. Sofia feels uneasy, her stomach hurts and soon her cousin notices that Sofia’s water broke. In order to avoid criminal consequences for conceiving out of wedlock, she now has 24 hours to name a father for the unexpected newborn. SOFIA is a compelling drama juxtaposing an „illegal“ pregnancy with class hypocrisy, lived (or suppressed) sexuality with societal critique, and lastly, parental expectations with a quiet yet determined act of rebellion. At the end, Sofia’s need for self-preservation leads to an utterly unexpected turn of events.
